From his teenage years Payne wanted to get out of Harlem street dangers and pursue an acting career, dreaming of becoming a famous actor one day. Thus he enrolled in Pennsauken High School in Pennsauken, New Jersey to study acting.

Payne started to build his net worth when he received his first wide exposure appearing in the NBC sitcom “The Cosby Show” in 1990, playing the role of Charmaine’s boyfriend Lance Rodman. He also played Marcus Stokes in an episode of the 1990s “The Fresh Prince of Bell-Air”. In 1992 he appeared in a television series “A Different World”, again as Lance Rodman. In the 1996 sitcom “Malcolm and Eddie”, Payne made a guest appearance as Preston. All helped his net worth grow.

Allen then played the role of Larry in “All of Us”, the 2004 sitcom, and in 2006 Payne was cast in the main role of C.J. Payne in the famous series “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne”, which is considered to be his best performance. The role definitely established Payne in his current star image, as well as accumulating considerable net worth.

Aside from his television work, Payne has also been successful in the film industry. His first movie appearance was in the 1989 crime and dance drama film “Rooftops”, then starring in the popular 1991 crime thriller “New Jack City” playing the role of Gee Money, a sidekick to drug lord Nino Brown, played by Wesley Snipes. He also appeared in the 1993 comedy “CB4” as gangsta rapper Dead Mike, co-staring Chris Brown. The following year saw Payne in a romantic drama “Jason’s Lyric” along with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Payne’s next movie was “The Walking Dead”, the 1994 Vietnam drama. One of his most notable roles was in the 1995 Eddie Murphy comedy thriller “Vampire in Brooklyn”, in which Payne played the homicide cop Justice. His other movie appearances include the 1995 movie “The Tuskagee Airmen”, the 1998 “The Price Above Rubies”, the 1999 “Double Platinum”, the 2000 “Perfect Storm”, the 2001 “Blue Hill Avenue”, the 2003 “Playas Ball” and the 2006 “Crossover”, among others.

Payne appeared in more than 16 movies, proving himself as a versatile actor and reaching the height of success which has established significant wealth.

Payne prefers to keep his private life away from public view. In his latest interview he has confirmed to be single, however, there is no information known about any current relationship. He was often linked with his co-stars, but he has never officially confirmed any of these rumors. Aside from acting, Payne is well known for his dancing skills. He is also a huge fan of music and sports, often seen attending music festivals and concerts as well as sports events.
