Bernie Mac Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Bernard Jeffrey McCullough was born on 5 October 1957, in Chicago, Illinois USA,  and was widely known as an actor, stand-up comedian and voice-artist under the name of Bernie Mac, particularly after joining fellow comedians Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and D. L. Hughley to form The Original Kings of Comedy.

So just how much did Bernie accumulate? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that the overall amount of Bernie Mac’s net worth was $15 million, which Bernie earned through his careers in the entertainment industry over a 30-year career beginning in 1977.

Bernie Mac Net Worth $15 Million

Bernie Mac was raised on Chicago’s South Side by his single mother, Mary, who died of cancer when he was 16 years old, and in his sophomore year of high school. As a stand-up comedian he used satire, observational comedy, black and insulting comedy genres. The subjects of his jokes included everyday life, parenting, marriage, family matters, race and racism topics. Bernie Mac was very popular among audiences and other comedians, and added much to his net worth appearing in clubs. He was inducted into the list of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time and numbered 72 there.

In 1992 Bernie debuted on the big screen appearing in a cameo in the film ‘Mo’ Money’ directed by Peter Macdonald. Later, Mac increased his net worth by appearing for several years in the main cast of films, of which the best known were ‘Above the Rim’ (1994) directed by Jeff Pollack, ‘House Party 3’ (1994) directed by Eric Meza, ‘Friday’ (1995) directed by F. Gary Gray, ‘The Walking Dead’ (1995) written and directed by Preston A. Whitmore II, ‘Get on the Bus’ (1996) and ‘The Original Kings of Comedy’ (2000) both directed by Spike Lee, ‘Def Jam’s How to Be a Player’ (1997) directed by Lionel C. Martin, ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’ (2003) directed by Joseph McGinty “McG” Nichol, ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ (2007) directed by Steven Soderbergh, and ‘Pride’ (2007) directed by Sunu Gonera, all of which added steadily to his net worth.

Bernie Mac landed a leading role in the films ‘The Players Club’ (1998) directed by Ice Cube, ‘Mr. 3000’ (2004) directed by Charles Stone III, ‘Guess Who’ (2005) directed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan thus increasing his net worth too. On television he appeared in episodes of sitcoms ‘Moesha’, ‘The Wayans Bros’ and ‘King of the Hill’, which all added somewhat to his net worth. Overall Bernie Mac appeared in more than 30 films, and over 10 TV productions.

The television work which increased Bernie’s net worth the most was the sitcom ‘The Bernie Mac Show’, which aired from 2001 to 2006, broadcasting more than a hundred episodes. For this sitcom, Mac won a Black Reel Award in 2005, four NAACP Image Awards from 2003 to 2006, a PRISM Award in 2003, two Satellite Awards in 2003 and 2004, and Television Critics Association Award in 2002. In addition to this he was nominated twice for Emmy Awards and twice for Golden Globe Awards. The honours and awards undoubtedly made a positive impact on Bernie Mac’s ability to generate inputs to his net worth.

In his personal life, Bernie Mac was married to Rhonda McCullough from 1977 until his death;  they had one daughter, Je’neice McCullough. Bernie Mac died from the autoimmune disorder sarcoidosis which was complicated by pneumonia, on 9 August 2008.

1[interview in Playboy, 12/04] I'm not a star, and I don't want to be a star. Stars fall. I'm an ordinary guy with an extraordinary job.
2[interview in Playboy, 12/04] I have Glocks, .45s, Berettas, Remingtons. I like the marksmanship and the discipline that it takes to be a gun owner. I like the machinery. Being able to take it out and clean it is even more fascinating than having the gun.
3[interview in Playboy, 12/04] I was living in a place where I was harming myself. I was irresponsible. I'd lost several apartments. I couldn't hold a job. I was tired of being a no-good son of a bitch who called himself a man but was just a grown boy.
4[interview in Playboy, 12/04] Every time you see a black romance it's over-the-top. There always has to be extreme hostility between the sexes. He has to cheat. She has to show him how independently strong she is, not just as a woman but as a black woman.
5. . . The Bernie Mac Show (2001) is my life. It's the truth, and I'm not ashamed of a minute, an hour, or a second of my life . . .
