Although never taking design lessons, she opened her own vintage and couture private clothing business, and attended college to study graphic design and art. However, that was only short-term, as she dropped out of studies to give birth to her first child. She continued her clothing business, and later started learning how to play poker. She practiced by playing on Full Tilt Poker with “play money”, and once she felt comfortable she started using real money. However, her first experience in a real game was completely different, and she spent some time getting accustomed to the real game of poker. Nevertheless, that didn’t last long and in her second tournament, Beth took 8th place at the World Series of Poker Ladies’ event. Two years later, she competed at the 2007 World Series of Poker and got to 2nd place out of more than 800 players in the $3K No-Limit Hold ‘em event.

In total, she has won three World Series of Poker final tables, and has also won money prizes in thirteen tournaments, which helped her reach the top of the Women’s All Time Money List.

In recent years, she featured in the CBS’ poker show “Poker Night in America” (2015-2016), and several other variety shows, such as “20/20”, “Millionaire Matchmaker”, and “The Ellen Show”, among others.

Regarding her personal life, Beth was married to Daniel Shak, who is also a poker player, until 2009; the couple has two children together. In 2016 she married secondly to Rick Levental, a senior correspondent for Fox News Channel, but the two divorced just nine months later, Beth citing irreconcilable differences.

In addition to two children with Daniel, Beth has another child, however, the name of child’s father is unknown in the media.

Beth is a well-known philanthropist and has supported such organizations as The Jed Foundation, and has participated in numerous charity poker tournaments, raising money for The Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania’s Palliative Care program among other organizations. Furthermore, she started the Bet Shak Foundation, through which she supports such non-profit organizations as Shades of Greatness Foundation Inc., then M. Night Shayamalan Foundation, and The LeSean McCoy Foundation, among others.
