So, have you ever wondered how rich Boris Johnson is? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that Boris counts his net worth at the amount of $2 million as of mid-2016. This sum of money is largely the result of his career as a politician, but another source of his overall wealth is coming from his career as a journalist and author.

Boris Johnson Net Worth $2 Million

Boris Johnson spent his childhood with three siblings, his father, Stanley Johnson, who is also a politician and author, and his mother, Charlotte Johnson Wahl, an artist; he is the grandson of Turkish journalist Ali Kemal. When he was a baby, the family moved to England, and Boris attended a preparatory boarding school, Ashdown House in East Sussex, where he earned a King’s Scholarship to study at Eton College. While there, he started writing for the students’ newspaper, and became the editor. He then received a scholarship to study at Balliol College, Oxford, from which he graduated with an upper second-class degree in Ancient Literature and Classical Philosophy.

Before he became a politician, Boris was a journalist. He started his career in 1987 writing for the prestigious British newspaper “The Times”; however, he quit this position in 1994 and joined “The Daily Telegraph”. He worked as assistant editor from 1994 until 1999, when he left the newspaper and joined “The Spectator” magazine. He stayed there until 2005, working as the editor, which highly increased his net worth. He then returned to “The Daily Telegraph”, and ever since has been a contributor to the paper.

His political career began in 2001, when he ran to become a parliament member for Henley. He was successful and stayed in that position until 2008, which contributed a lot to his net worth, but it also helped him build his career. In 2008 he participated in elections for the Mayor of London, and eventually won, defeating incumbent Ken Livingstone. Boris’ also won re-election in 2012, defeating Livingstone again. During his stint as the Mayor of London, the overall size of Boris’ net worth increased by a large margin. He stepped down from the position on the 9th May 2016, as in 2015, Boris became the Member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, which further increased his net worth. Most recently, he has championed the cause of the UK leaving the European Union, which was carried by referendum in June 2016.

Apart from his political career, Boris is also recognized as an author, publishing 11 books so far, including “Friends, Voters, Countrymen” (2001), “Seventy-Two Virgins” (2004), “The Dream Of Rome” (2006), “The Perils Of The Pushy Parents: A Cautionary Tale” (2007), and his latest book “The Churchill Factor” (2014), which have also added a lot to his overall net worth.

If to talk about his personal life, Boris Johnson has been married to Marina Wheeler since 1993; they are the parents of five children. Previously, he was in marriage with Allegra Mostyn-Owen from 1987 to 1993.

2My friends: as I have discovered myself, there are no disasters, there are only opportunities. And indeed, opportunities for fresh disasters.
3In 1904, 20% of journeys were made by bicycle in London. I want to see a figure like that again. If you can't turn the clock back to 1904, what's the point of being a Conservative?

5[on his potential Tory rivals in Parliament] After 2016 who knows what will happen. But I'm very, very happy with the job of mayor of London. They should cool their porridge, save their breath, put their shoulders to the wheel, all hands to the mast, and all shoot from the same trench - to mix my metaphors.
6To rinse the gutters of public life, you need a gutter press.
