Although born in North Hollywood, Brook moved to Oak Harbor, Washington in his second grade, so he could be closer to his older brother, who at the time played basketball at the University of Washington. A year later, he moved again, this time to his current hometown of Fresno, California where he went to San Joaquin Memorial High School and started playing basketball. In 2005, he enrolled at Stanford University, where he continued playing basketball, and his talent saw Brook honored as an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention and named to the All-Pac-10 Freshman Team. In his sophomore season, he entered the All-Pac-10 First Team and All-American Third Team, and then in March 2008 declared for the NBA draft, being selected by the New Jersey Nets – his net worth was established.
