Bowles grew up in East Sussex and South Kensington, along with her two siblings, with her father being a wealthy wine merchant, and the Vice Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex. This enabled her to enter royal circles at an early age and to enjoy a lavish lifestyle. She attended Queens Gate School in South Kensington, and later the Mon Fertile school in Switzerland. She eventually went to France and enrolled at the University of London Institute in Paris, to study French literature.

Upon completing her education, she returned to London and worked as a secretary for several firms in the West End, as well for the decorating firm Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, which established her net worth.

In 1972 Bowles met Charles, Prince of Wales, and the two started a romantic relationship. However, they broke up in 1973, and shortly afterwards she married Andrew Parker Bowles‍, who was a cavalry officer,a lieutenant in the Blues and Royals. She eventually renewed her relationship with the Prince, staying together until he married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. Their marriage, however, wasn’t a happy one and it broke down by the mid ’80s, leading him to Bowles again. In 1992 their affair became known to the public, and being revealed as a longtime mistress of Prince Charles, first in line to the throne, enabled Bowles to gain huge publicity, but becoming highly unpopular to British society. Not long afterwards, Bowles divorced her husband, after living separately for a long time, and the Prince announced his divorce from Diana too.

Bowles’ image in the media worsened after the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997, who had achieved an enormous popularity and whose death had the whole country mourning. On the other hand, her relationship with the Price greatly improved. Although they struggled to gain acceptance both from The Queen Mother and from society, the couple eventually began appearing together in public. After finally achieving acceptance, they became engaged in 2005, and later that year the couple married. Bowles thus became ‘Duchess of Cornwall’, holding the position of the second highest woman in the United Kingdom Order of Precedence. She was later appointed to the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II, and then to Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, as the first British princess by marriage to be appointed in such position. All contributed to her wealth.

Bowles has since been involved in royal duties and has accompanied the Prince in fulfilling his responsibilities. This has include traveling around the world, including providing relief to Hurricane Katrina victims in the USA, visiting countries in Europe and meeting Pope Benedict XVI, as well as visiting countries in the Middle East and India, and the Commonwealth states.

Speaking about other aspects of her private life, Bowles has two children from her marriage with Andrew Parker-Bowles.

The Princess is a devoted philanthropist, having supported numerous charities with her husband. She has also been involved in solo efforts, serving as the patron and president of the National Osteoporosis Society and a trustee of the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust. In addition, she has raised awareness in other spheres, such as rape and sexual abuse, literacy, animal welfare and poverty.
