Carl Reiner Net Worth, Biography, Wiki 2017-2016

Carlton Reiner was born on 20 March 1922, in The Bronx, New York City USA, of Romanian and Austrian descent. Carl is an actor, writer, director and producer best known for being involved during the start of television comedy, with shows such as “Caesar’s Hour and “Your Show of Shows”. He’s also known to be a part of films including “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming”, and the three Ocean’s films. All his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is now.

How rich is Carl Reiner? As of mid-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $80 million, mostly accumulated through seven decades of work in film and television. He’s won a Grammy Award and nine Emmy Awards during his career, and also written numerous works and has done screenwriting for various films. All of these slowly contributed to his current wealth.

Carl Reiner Net Worth $80 Million

During his childhood, his brother Charlie would be the reason for his interest in acting, as he recommended a free dramatic workshop being advertised in the newspaper. Both of them were drafted into the military, and his brother died serving for the 9th Division’s 37th Infantry during World War II. Carl, however, was put into the Army Air Corps and during his service was promoted to the rank of corporal. He was initially going to be a radio operator but he contracted pneumonia and instead was sent to Georgetown University to train as a French interpreter. His time with the school allowed him to direct the play “Moliere” in French as part of his training. He was then sent to Hawaii, attending a production of Hamlet while working as a teletype operator. He then auditioned for an acting job in the military, and became part of Special Services, and subsequently travelled with a military theatre group until his discharge in 1946.

Reiner continued his career as an actor, and started performing in Broadway musicals such as “Call Me Mister” and then he was given the chance to be a part of “Your Show of Shows”, for which he wrote skits alongside Neil Simon and Mel Brooks. Carl then became a part of “The Steve Allen Show”, and later “2000 Year Old man”. In 1961, after two years of working on a project based on his personal and professional life, he then brought it to the screen in “The Dick Van Dyke Show”. He appeared mostly as the show’s host and the series ran from 1961 to 1966. During the end of the series he became part of the film “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming”, and then made a foray into directorial work with “Enter Laughing”, “Where’s Poppa?”, “Oh, God!” and “The Jerk”. He was responsible for helping Steve Martin start his career by directing and writing four films with him. He then continued his career with “Bert Rigby, You’re a Fool”, “Ocean’s Eleven”, “Ocean’s Twelve”, and “Ocean’s Thirteen”. All contributed to his rising net worth.

Aside from film and television, Carl started working on various books including “My Anecdotal Life: A Memoir”, “NNNNN: A Novel” and “American Film”. Some of his latest works include being a part of “House”, “Two and a Half Men” and “The Cleveland Show”.

For his personal life, Carl married singer Estelle Lebost in 1943 and they were married for 64 years until her death. He has three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also described himself as a Jewish atheist, having a very different view on God. He currently resides in Beverly Hills and is active on Twitter.

#Quote
1[on Sid Caesar] He was a saxophonist but had a sense of memory - where you pick up something and mime it. We wanted to do a funny sketch with it. Sid pretended to open up a jar of olives in his hand. So, without knowing it, he screwed the lid back on and put it down on the floor. That's the greatest sense memory Iive ever seen.
2[on Steve Martin] He's one of my favorite people in the world because he's a cool cat. He looks like an accountant, but he is one of the most tangential thinkers. He thinks in a way that nobody else thinks. He has a brilliant mind, putting things together that don't go together, and make you laugh. He's one of the great creative forces we have today.
3Inviting people to laugh with you while you are laughing at yourself is a good thing to do. You may be the fool but you're the fool in charge.
4I'm a charming coward; I fight with words.
