Cortland Temujin Finnegan was born on the 2nd February 1984, in Fayetteville, North Carolina USA, and is an American Football player who is known as a former cornerback of the Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints, while currently he is a free agent.

Cortland then enrolled at Samford University in Homewood, Alabama where he continued playing for its football team – Samford Bulldogs. During his college career, he earned several awards including Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, first-team All-OVC and first-team All-America.

Cortland Finnegan’s professional American Football career officially began in 2006 when he was selected in the 7th round as the 7th pick, #215 pick overall, in 2006 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. This made him the first drafted player from Samford since the 1969 NFL Draft. During his first season in Tennessee Cortland appeared as a real refreshment in the team’s rooster, as well as its secret trump card.
