Donald started gaining popularity as the musical director of the Tri-City Singers in the early ‘90s. The group made its debut with “A Songwriter’s Point of View” which was part of the indie record label GospoCentric Records, and which reached second spot of the Billboard Top Gospel Charts. They then followed it up two years later with “Bible Stories”, then being billed as Donald Lawrence & The Tri-City Singers, and releasing several songs. They joined the newly established label Crystal Rose Records which distributed through Sparrow Records, and in 1997 he produced for Karen Clark Sheard’s “Finally Karen” debut while still working with Tri-City. He then signed a contract with Island Inspirational, but no album was released.

In 2000, Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers signed to EMI Gospel, and worked to promote a new album and released “tri-city4.com” in 2000, which peaked in second spot of the Billboard’s Top Gospel Charts. In 2002 they delivered the follow-up entitled “Go Get Your Life Back”, which featured guest appearances by Ann Nesby and Bishop Walter Hawkins. Donald then released a greatest hits album entitled “Restoring the Years” in 2003, after which he started working on a solo album entitled “I Speak Life”, which was his debut in a contract with Verity Records. There were numerous guest appearances on the album, and it earned him six Stellar Awards. Plus increased his net worth considerably.

The Tri-City Singers decided that they would retire after one last live recording in 2006, and released “Finale: Act One” and “Finale: Act Two” simultaneously – the album’s lead single entitled “The Blessing of Abraham” was nominated for a Grammy Award. Their concert featured guest appearances from Darwin Hobbs, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Bishop Walter Hawkins.

Lawrence then worked on his second solo album, entitled “The Law of Confession Part I”, and subsequently released YRM (Your Righteous Mind) in 2011, and “20 Year Celebration, Vol. 1: Best for Last” in 2013. He was also featured in the track “Released” by Bill Winston.

He now works as the host of the show “How Sweet The Sound Choir Competition” on Verizon, and thanks to all of these opportunities, his net worth continues to rise.

Not much is known about Donald’s personal life. He continued to work on various music-related projects, and in an interview, he mentioned that he wants to continue working on his passion, and with new talent.
