Drake Net Worth, Wiki & Biography in 2017

Canadian actor, rap artist, as well as songwriter, Aubrey Drake Graham was born on 24 October 1986, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but he first rose to prominence as an actor in 2001, when he starred as Jimmy Brooks in the popular teen drama series called “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, which attracted a large viewership, as well as gaining favorable reviews from the critics. The success of the series is reflected in numerous awards, such as seven Young Artist Awards, 28 Gemini Awards, and two Canadian Screenwriting Awards among many others. The show also played a huge role in creating an authentic Canadian identity in the popular media, as well as placing characters in realistic situations.

So just how rich is Drake, as of early 2017? Authoritative sources estimate that in 2012 Drake’s annual income amounted to $20.5 million, while in 2013 Drake’s income reached $10.5 million, so in regards to his overall wealth, Drake’s net worth amounts to over $100 million, accumulated during a career which began in the early 2000s.

Drake Net Worth $100 Million

Drake’s father was an African-American from Memphis Tennessee, and a drummer who played with such greats as Jerry Lee Lewis. His mother was a white Jewish-Canadian English teacher, so Drake studied at a Jewish high school, and had a Bar-Mitzvah ceremony. Drake later enrolled in the Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, and continued his studies at the Vaughan Road Academy – even though Drake left the academy, he returned to graduate from it in 2012. He left because he had an opportunity to star in “Degrassi: The Next Generation” series, as already detailed.

Drake’s rapping career started in 2007, when he released his first mixtape entitled “Room for Improvement”. At the beginning of his career, Drake focused heavily on releasing mixtapes, which eventually caught the attention of fellow rapper Lil Wayne. After the success of his first and second studio albums, Drake had an opportunity to work with such well-known artists as Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys and many others. He released his debut extended play entitled “So Far Gone” in 2009 to positive commercial and critical success. Featuring guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Trey SongzBun B and others, the album has sold more than 500,000 copies, and produced such singles as “Successful”, “I’m Goin’ In”, and “Best I Ever Had”. As a member of “Young Money Entertainment”, Drake released his first studio album in 2010 under the name of “Thank Me Later”, which exceeded the success of his EP with one point five million copies sold worldwide, and a Platinum certification from the RIAA.

Drake’s most recent studio work is his third album called “Nothing Was the Same”, which came out in 2013. The album spawned seven singles, including “Worst Behavior”, “Pound Cake”, “Too Much” and “Started from the Bottom”. The album has now sold close to two million copies in the US alone.

In his personal life, Drake is rumoured to be in a relationship with singer Rihanna, but so far it remains just that!

#Quote
1Rap lyric: 'But do I ever come up in discussion/ Over double-pump lattes and low-fat muffins?'
2[observation, 2014] To be recognized in any capacity for the music that we make is great, but I don't think Grammys make or break an artist. I don't think anybody should live or die by the Grammys.. If I go home with no Grammys, I still feel great about what we did.
3Part of me is being in touch with emotion. That's all I write about. If I didn't write about my emotions, I don't know what else I would write about. Let that be the worst thing in my life please, not something like drug charges and God knows what else. I don't get myself into trouble, so if the negative feedback that I do get is the worst thing that's going to happen to me, then so be it.
4Real men stay faithful. They don't have time to look for other women because they're too busy looking for new ways to love their own.
5[on Rihanna] I don't even know if I wrote a rap song in that whole nine months, because I wasn't a rapper anymore. I didn't believe in myself. I was someone else's property. I was a pawn. You know what she was doing to me? She was doing exactly what I've done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. I was like, 'wow, this feels terrible.'
