Eric is the second son born to Mike and his wife Ileana, who escaped from Cuba with her family when she was only seven years old. Eric started playing baseball in his childhood years, and since then has remained focused on the game; he was taught by Bladimir Marrero, and by the time he was in his teens, Eric had already won several trophies in the little league system, and became one of the best prospects in the US.
