Finola Hughes was born on the 29th October 1959, in London, England and is an actress, television host, entrepreneur, and author, perhaps best known for playing the role of Anna Devane in the ABC soap operas “General Hospital” (1985- ) – winning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series – and “All My Children” (1999-2003). Hughes has also appeared in such movies as “Staying Alive” (1983) and “Like Crazy” (2011). Her career now spans over 35 years.

Finola Hughes was born into an Italian-Irish family, and grew up in London where she went to the Arts Educational School, and began her career on stage in 1981 playing in the London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s “Cats”.

In 1979, Finola had debuted in the TV series called “Dick Emery’s Comedy Hour”, while a year later, she appeared in “The Apple”. In 1983, she played alongside John Travolta in the Golden Globe-nominated “Staying Alive”, and in then in the Primetime Emmy-nominated TV movie “The Master of Ballantrae” (1984). From 1985 to date, Hughes is playing Anna Devane in the Golden Globe-nominated series “General Hospital”, appearing in over 400 episodes and earning a considerable income thanks to the commercial success of the show. By the end of the ‘80s, Finola had roles in “Haunted by Her Past” (1987), and in three episodes of “L.A. Law” (1989).

In 1991, she had a minor role in Michael Hoffman’s Golden Globe-nominated ”Soapdish” starring Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey Jr. and Whoopi Goldberg. From 1992 to 1993, Finola played Chelsea Duffy in 18 episodes of “Jack’s Place”, while from 1993 to 1995, she appeared in 27 episodes of “Blossom”. Hughes continued with “Aspen Extreme” (1993) and “Above Suspicion” (1995) alongside Christopher Reeve, Joe Mantegna and Kim Cattrall. From 1999 to 2003, Hughes played Alex Devane / Anna Devane in 110 episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-winning series “All My Children”, while from 1999 to 2006, she appeared in nine episodes of “Charmed”.
