During his first season he played in 81 games, starting 71 of them, and averaging 2.8 points per game. In the next season, his average was 3.0, then as part of a three team deal, James was sent into the Houston Rockets in 2002 and the Philadelphia 76ers after that. Having finished his partnerships with the previously mentioned teams, Posey signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies after becoming a free agent in 2003. However, in August 2005, he was traded into the Miami Heat, but spent most time on the bench.
