Jason Day Net Worth

Date:

Jason Day was born on 12 November 1987, in Beaudesert, Queensland Australia, to an Australian father and Filipino mother, and is a golfer ranked number three in the world as of August 2015, after he won the fourth ‘major’ tournament of the season, the US PGA Championship. Prior to this achievement, Day was noted for finishing nine times in the top ten at major championships without actually winning.

So just how rich is Jason Day? Sources estimate that Day has a net worth of over $20 million, although accuracy is difficult as golfers can increase their wealth from week-to-week – Jason’s win at the PGA is worth $1.8 million – plus their agreements to endorse major companies can be very lucrative.

Jason Day Net Worth $20 Million

Jason Day was educated firstly at Kooralbyn International School in southern Queensland, a school with a noted golf coaching program, and when the school closed he attended Hills International College, again a school with a strong sports program. Success came early if not easily, when aged 13 he won the Australian Masters Junior title, and in 2004 won the Australian Boys Open title, as well as being the leading amateur in the Queensland Open. Jason also won the Australian Junior Order of Merit twice. Outstandingly, Jason won his age group at the Callaway World Junior Championships in the USA. Of course, as an amateur Jason was not allowed to accept any prize money, so his net worth was yet to get off the ground.

Jason Day turned professional in 2006, and was immediately supported by, and endorsed Adidas and TaylorMade, which also enabled him to play PGA events around the world, starting-off his net worth with $160,000 won in his first few events. He didn’t qualify for the PGA Tour for 2007, but played the second tier Nationwide Tour, winning his first title at the Legend Financial Group Classic, and eventually finishing fifth on the money-winners list for the year, a significant boost to his net worth, and which gave him his PGA Tour card for 2008.

Jason’s first full season on the PGA tour was a real learning experience, but in 2009 he finished runner-up at the Puerto Rican Open. In 2010, Day became the youngest Australian winner at the HP Byron Nelson Classic, and then had his first top-10 finish in a major at the US PGA Championship, eventually qualifying for the Tour Championship at the end of the season, and also ranking 21st on the money-winners list. His net worth was improving considerably.

During the next four years, Jason Day came agonisingly close to winning one of the four major titles, being in contention many times as his nine top-10 finishes indicates, and these included finishing runner-up at both the Masters and US Open tournaments in 2011, and again at the latter in 2013. He won the World Match Play Championship in 2014, having finished third in 2013. Another notable victory came with compatriot Adam Scott at the national teams Honda World Cup of Golf in 2013. All these achievements added significantly to Jason’s net worth.

Injuries limited Jason’s play somewhat in 2014, but in 2015 he firstly won the Farmers Insurance Open, then finished in a tie for second place at the British Open, before winning again at the RBC Canadian Open. Finally, in August 2015 Jason Day won his first major, the US PGA title at Whistling Straits with a record low score for a major championship of 20-under-par. Of course, the win added considerably to Day’s net worth, in addition to the plaudits which all winners of major championships receive. At the age of 27, one can well imagine that Jason will be able to continue challenging for tournaments and major championships for some years into the future.

In his personal life, Jason has been married to Ellie Harvey since 2009; the couple have one son, and a home base in Ohio, USA.
