Jean’s brother Nicholson Poulard became the Quebec Boxing Champion in 1996, and that inspired him to turn to the sport.

Pascal won the Light-middleweight title at Jeux de la Francophonie in Ottawa in 2001, and then the golden medal at Commonwealth Games in 2002. He also represented Canada at the Pan American Games, winning the bronze in middleweight in Santo Domingo in 2003. A year after, Pascal won the Trans America Boxing (TAB) title in a fight against Darnell Boone. In September 2006, Jean defeated Lucas Green Arias for the WBC Latino title at the Montreal Casino.

Pascal didn’t stop there, and he fought Jermain Mackey for the NABO super-middleweight title, which he successfully defended against Lafarrell Bunteng in March 2007. Christian Cruz and Brian Norman tried to take the belt out of Pascal’s hands, but the Canadian defended the title on both occasions, retaining the NABO/NABF/NABA super middleweight titles in the process. In December 2008, Pascal challenged the also unbeaten Carl Froch for the vacant WBC super-middleweight title, which Froch won by decision. The HBO World Championship Boxing broadcast the re-match against Hopkins from the Bell Centre in Montreal in May 2011, and the veteran won by decision.
