Jonathan Niven Cryer, known simply as Jon Cryer, is a famous American film and television director, voice actor, actor, as well as a screenwriter. Jon Cryer rose to prominence in 1986, when he starred in Howard Deutch’s romantic film called “Pretty in Pink”. In addition to being highly praised for its storyline, “Pretty in Pink” produced a soundtrack which was considered to be among the best soundtracks in cinema, with such songs included as “If You Leave”, “Bring On the Dancing Horses” and “Left of Center”. Currently, Jon Cryer is one of the main stars in the sitcom called “Two and a Half Man”, which includes a cast of Charlie Sheen, Angus T. JonesMarin Hinkle and Melanie Lynskey. The show first aired on television screens in 2003, and so far has produced 12 seasons. Jon Cryer was born in 1965 in New York, United States, where he studied at Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Center, and also attended Bronx High School of Science. Since he had always desired to pursue a career in acting, Cryer decided to focus on his dreams, as a result of which he joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Cryer soon made his acting debut in “Torch Song Trilogy” on Broadway, which was followed by his appearance in “Brighton Beach Memoirs”. For a while, Cryer starred in small roles on television, until he was noticed for his portrayal of Phil Dale in “Pretty in Pink”. Cryer’s performance brought him a lot of job opportunities. In 1991, he starred alongside Charlie Sheen, Cary Elwes and Lloyd Bridges in Jim Abrahams’ comedy spoof entitled “Hot Shots!”, which proved to be a commercial success with more than $181 million grossed at the box office.
