Slowly he was encouraged to try and sing, which resulted in his performance at the local church in an Easter musical. While in eighth grade, Josh made his debut public appearance at a talent competition, where he sang “Standing Outside the Fire”, originally performed by Garth Brooks. He was easily admired by the public, so encouraged him to develop his talent.
He went to John Glenn High School, and during high school years, Josh sang at numerous festivals, pageants and other singing competitions throughout Michigan, and also performed on stage at the Grand Ole Opry in a national talent show. Following high school matriculation, Josh enrolled at Western Michigan University, but soon decided to join the US Marine Corps. He finished basic training and return home to marry, and was sent to Camp Pendleton to serve as A supply clerk.
After being away from music for couple of years, Josh signed up for the “American Idol” in 2003, and reached the finals, eventually finishing fourth overall. Just a year later, Josh released the new song entitled “Enough”, and has stated that this is his favorite song so far. He was released by the Lyric Street Records, but soon found a new record label, the Average Joe’s Entertainment, and in 2010 released a new song – “Cover Girl” – which was later featured on his third studio album “Redemption”, released in November 2011.However, his personal life went into a downward spiral which culminated with a suicide note and a psychiatric stay. Fortunately, Josh managed to recover and in early 2017 released an EP, entitled “Nothin’ Like Us: Pt. 1”, for Revel Road Records.
