He is a professional race car driver currently competing in the NASCAR Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports, and in the Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports. To begin with, Kahne began his career as a sprint car driver at Deming Speedway before moving to Skagit Speedway and then to the big time under the USAC.
