Mark is the son of highly educated parents; his mother, Donna was an architect, while his father worked as public relations adviser to successful politicians and CEOs. Raised Jewish alongside his two sisters in Lincoln Park, a community area in North Side, Chicago, his parents divorced and both remarried; as a result he has three step-sisters and a step- brother. He went to the Francis W. Parker School until 12th grade, and after high school enrolled at the Warton School of the University of Pennsylvania, from which he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, then Mark’s first job was with Lazard Freres & Co as a financial analyst, followed by a move to Hong Kong, working as a Vice-President for Asian Capital Partners for two years.
