Michael Duane Adalbert Adam Johnson was born on the 13th September 1967, in Dallas, Texas, USA. He is a former athlete, considered one of the greatest sprinters of all time, winning four Olympic and eight world titles. More, he set the world record in the 400 metres (43.18 seconds), established on the 26th August 1999 in the final of World Championships held in Seville. He also held the world record for the 200 meters (19.32 seconds) for twelve years before it was beaten on the 20th August 2008 by the Jamaican Usain Bolt (19.30 seconds). He was also awarded IAAF Trophy for the Athlete of the Year twice (1996 and 1999), was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame (2004) and into the IAAF Hall of Fame (2012). Michael Johnson was active as a professional sprinter from 1986 to 2001.

During the next World Cup, held in Gothenburg in 1995, Johnson won two more gold medals (200 m and 400 m), and in 1996, he proved to be one of the best sprinters in the history, winning two Olympic gold medals in Atlanta, the 400m with a time of 43.49 sec., and in the 200 meters, setting a world record of 19.32 seconds. In 1997, he won his seventh gold medal of the world championships and the third at the distance of 400 m.

Due to an injury he could not start in the 200 m in Seville in 1999. He raced in and won the 400 meters, and in the 4 x 400 m relay, but disqualification ensued, and as a result he won just the eighth gold medal of the World Championships. In 2000, Michael established the current world record of 30.85 sec for the unusual distance of 300m in South Africa. In 2000, during the USA Championships, he won the 400 m., but because of injury did not finish the 200 meters, so his last major achievement in the sports arena was winning an Olympic gold medal at the XXVII Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 in the 400 m. Afterwards, he announced the completion of a career during which he won a total of eight gold medals at the world championships and four Olympic gold medals.
