In the same year, he teamed up with Plotanin, as the two founded Interros, investment fund, containing assets in metallurgy, mining and real estate companies.

With the growth of Interros, they used it to purchase the Norlisk-Nickel, one of the largest Russian mining companies at the time. Their little kingdom grew in a tremendous speed, making them both billionaires, and in 2007, Prokhorov decided to sell his part of the Interros shares, earning $7.2 billion.
