He then enrolled at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, from which he graduated with a BA degree in Philosophy in 1953. Nick’s teaching career began in 1956, and one of his first students was Brian Gottfried, who later won 25 singles titles and 54 doubles titles during his career. Subsequently, he expanded his teaching by opening his own tennis camp at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. During the mid-1970s, Nick moved to Puerto Rico, becoming the tennis director at Dorado Beach Hotel, where he worked alongside his assistant coach Julio Moros. In 1977 Nick relocated to Longboat Key, Florida in order to start working as an instructor at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort.
