Brown’s team moved to New Orleans, and changed their name to the New Orleans Hornets, and from 2002 until 2005, he played in 240 games scoring an average of 10.6 points and 4.2 field goals. In July 2006 he was traded to the Chicago Bulls alongside his teammate J. R. Smith, subsequently starting 49 out of 72 games and playing for 20.2 minutes per game. In 2008, he made his debut for the Boston Celtics in a match against his previous team, the Chicago Bulls, then provided a notable performance in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 10 points with six rebounds and hit all of his four shots. P.J. ended the season with an average of 2.2 points per match in 18 games played. He retired after the season had finished, having played in more than 1,000 NBA games.

P.J now works at Chattahoochee high school, where he serves as an engineering teacher.

In 2014, Weah was elected a senator in the Liberian Parliament, but in the three-year term, he only occasionally attended Senate meetings and contributed no legislative initiative. However, in 2017, he again announced his candidacy for the presidency. On 27th December 2017 he was elected President of Liberia, and sworn in on 22 January 2018.
