Simona Halep was born on 27 September 1991, in Constanta, Romania, to Tania and Stere Halep, of Aromanian descent, and is a professional tennis player, known for winning six WTA titles in the same year of 2013.

So just how wealthy is Simona Halep? According to sources, in early 2017 Halep has amassed a net worth of over $14 million, acquired during her tennis career which began in 2006.

Halep began playing tennis when she was four years old. At 16 she moved to Bucharest and started to play in junior competitions, winning the French Roland Garros Junior Championship in 2008. Shortly after, she started to compete in senior developmental ITF tournaments, winning two smaller ITF $10,000 tournaments and then an ITF $25000 tournament. Her net worth began to grow.

The following year she tried to qualify for a senior Grand Slam at Roland Garros defeating Michaëlla Krajicek, but lost to Vitalia Diatchenko. In 2010, Halep entered the Australian Open, but lost to Stéphanie Foretz. She then qualified for the WTA, but failed to make it any further. Next, she qualified for the French Open, winning against Bethanie Mattek-Sands but eventually losing to Samantha Stosur. Later in 2010, she entered the US Open, where she lost to Jelena Jankovic.

The following year saw Halep in the quarterfinals in the 2011 ASB Classic, losing to Yanina Wickmayer. She entered the 2011 Australia Open, but eventually losing to Agnieszka Radwańska. She defeated Bojana Jovanovski at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships, and then lost to Serena Williams. She went on to win over Svetlana Kuznetsova at the 2011 Rogers Cup, but then lost to Lucie Šafářová. Then, at the 2011 US Open, she defeated top-10 ranked player Li Na, but later lost to Carla Navarro. After being defeated at the 2012 Australia Open, Halep made it to the 2012 Indian Wells Masters and the 2012 Miami Masters, but lost to Venus Williams in both tournaments. Later in 2012, she broke into the world’s top 50.

The year 2013 brought enormous success for Halep. She won her first six WTA titles, being named the WTA’s Most Improved Player and ESPN Center Court’s 2013 Most Improved Player. Her popularity significantly arose, and she was now ranked No. 11 in the world. Her wealth was boosted too.

In 2014 she qualified for the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career, but eventually lost to Dominika Cibulková. However, she reached No. 10 in the WTA Rankings, and her victory over Casey Dellacqua at the BNP Paribas Open quarterfinals earned her the No. 5 spot in the world, the highest ranking a Romanian had ever reached. Later that year, she reached her first Grand Slam final at the French Open, but was defeated by Maria Sharapova. Not long after, she made it to the semifinals at Wimbledon for the first time in her career, but lost to Eugenie Bouchard, but climbed to world No. 2 and reached the finals of the WTA Championships, again being defeated by Serena Williams. All contributed to her popularity and greatly added to her wealth.

In 2015 Halep won the Indian Wells Master, her first Premier Mandatory WTA and her biggest career title ever, by defeating Jelena Jankovic in the final. She qualified for the Singapore 2015 WTA Finals, and reached the semifinals at the 2015 US Open, but eventually lost to Flavia Pennetta.

In 2016, Halep reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, eventually losing to Angelique Kerber. She then defeated Madison Keys to win the Rogers Cup title, reaching world No. 3 in WTA rankings.

Throughout her career, Halep has collected 14 WTA singles titles, which has enabled her to earn considerable popularity and a significant fortune.

In her private life, Halep hasn’t been married yet and seems to be single at present. The player made headlines in 2009, when she underwent breast reduction surgery, as her breasts troubled her and made her uncomfortable while playing tennis.
