A graduate of Bennington College, Princess Yasmin initially had aspirations of making it big as an opera singer. However, her life truly turned around after her mother crossed the great divide, bidding adieu to life on May 14, 1987, owing to complications that arose from Alzheimer´s disease.

Yasmin could have easily opted to lead a life out of the public eye, however, inspired by her mother, knowing that she could use her name and position to great effect, she instead took it upon herself to spread awareness about the disease. Yasmin did give love and marriage a second chance, as she exchanged wedding vows with Christopher Michael Jeffries, a real estate developer and lawyer, in 1989, but Jeffries would divorce her in 1993, citing abandonment as the primary reason. These days, she confides in her half-brothers, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and Prince Amyn Aga Khan.
